Mass-market paperback novels are one of NMLP's largest-volume donation categories. Goodwill, Savers, and Friends of APL screen for condition at intake. NMLP accepts all paperback novels in any condition.

- Westerns — Louis L'Amour (multiple Bantam printings), Zane Grey, Larry McMurtry
- Sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks — Asimov, Heinlein, Le Guin, Zelazny, Tolkien Ballantine prints, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Jordan
- Romance — Harlequin, Bantam, Avon — high demand at LFL stewards in lower-income neighborhoods
- Spanish-language and bilingual paperbacks — high demand at South Valley Little Free Libraries
- Anaya, Silko, Momaday paperback editions — Bless Me Ultima Tonatiuh-Quinto-Sol, Ceremony Viking, House Made of Dawn — frequently donated, well-routed
