Where to Donate Sheet Music and Music Books in Albuquerque

Published on March 21, 2026

By Josh Eldred

You can donate sheet music, music books and hymnals in Albuquerque to me, free: put them in the covered 24/7 drop box outside the gate at 5445 Edith Blvd NE (North Valley, near Edith and Montaño), or text 505-250-3804 for a free pickup anywhere in the Albuquerque metro, scheduled by route. A piano bench of loose sheets, a teacher’s shelf of method books or a closet of old hymnals: any amount, in any condition. I sort it all by hand, and what’s usable is resold to keep the service free.

What Sheet Music and Music Materials Do I Accept?

I accept a comprehensive range of music materials including sheet music, music instruction books, piano books, guitar instruction manuals, hymnals, choral music collections, and more. Whether your music materials are classical, contemporary, educational, or religious, I welcome them.

If you have vintage sheet music from decades past or recent instructional materials, I'm interested. Music materials often have lasting educational value, and by donating them to me, you help keep them in the hands of musicians and students. Usable music is resold rather than left to go to waste, and that resale is what keeps the pickup and the drop box free.

Why Donate Music Books and Sheet Music?

Music instruction and reference materials can be expensive for musicians to acquire. When you donate your sheet music and music books to me, you're giving students, musicians, and music enthusiasts an opportunity to access materials they might otherwise struggle to afford. Vintage sheet music collections have particular value, as do music instruction books for various instruments.

Rather than throwing music materials away or letting them sit unused, donating gives them a real shot at reaching people who will play from them. It is the same approach I take with every book that comes through the warehouse: sort by hand, resell what is usable.

How Music Donations Are Handled

When you donate sheet music and music books to me, I sort them by hand and work out how best to put them back into circulation. Condition is less important than usability—even well-loved books with notes in the margins have value for musicians. I've processed over 500,000 pounds of materials from Albuquerque residents and businesses, and music materials are part of that dedication to keeping items in use.

Your music donations are sorted along with books, magazines, and other materials I accept. This means you can bundle all your donations together and drop them off at once, regardless of the type.

Three Easy Ways to Donate Sheet Music

I've made music material donations as simple as possible:

  • Free Pickup: If you have a large collection of sheet music or music books anywhere in the Albuquerque metro, text 505-250-3804 for a free pickup, scheduled by route. Learn more about free pickup.
  • 24/7 Drop Box: My covered, waterproof drop box sits outside the gate near the road and is open around the clock, no appointment needed. You can drop off music materials whenever it's convenient for you. Find my drop box location.
  • Daytime Drop-Off: Clearing a whole music room or choir library? Come 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. any day, when someone is at the warehouse at 5445 Edith Blvd NE, Unit A, Albuquerque, NM 87107 (Edith & Montano area, North Valley) to help you unload.

Music Donation Considerations

There are no restrictions on the type or age of music materials I accept. Old hymnals? Great. Piano exercise books? Perfect. Sheet music from decades ago? I welcome it. Condition is not a hurdle either: torn covers, loose pages and water stains are all fine. If you are clearing a piano bench and want the fuller picture first, what to do with old sheet music covers it.

One thing to note: if your sheet music or music books contain handwritten notes, annotations, or personal writing from previous musicians, this doesn't prevent donation—many musicians actually appreciate seeing previous annotations. However, if any materials contain deeply personal information or sentimental value, you may want to retain those for yourself.

Supporting Musicians Through Your Donation

Musicians and music students depend on access to learning materials, yet many can't afford to purchase all the sheet music and instruction books they need. Your donation puts those materials back within reach of people who will use them. Whether it's a beginner guitarist picking up an instructional book or a classical musician finding a difficult-to-locate piece of sheet music, your donation matters.

Important Information

I'm a for-profit business that keeps materials in circulation. Sheet music and music book donations do not qualify for tax deductions. However, if you're looking for a practical way to clear space and support musicians, donating to me is an excellent option.

For questions about specific collections, large donations, or other details, contact me at 505-250-3804 or hello@newmexicoliteracyproject.org. I'm happy to discuss your music materials and help make the donation process smooth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What music materials do you accept?

I accept sheet music, music instruction books, piano books, guitar manuals, hymnals, choral collections, and all other types of music-related materials. Whether it's vintage or modern, I welcome donations.

Do I need tax documentation for donating sheet music?

No, I am a for-profit business, not a nonprofit. Sheet music and music book donations do not qualify for tax deductions.

How can I donate sheet music in Albuquerque?

Put it in the covered 24/7 drop box outside the gate at 5445 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107, at any hour with no appointment, or text 505-250-3804 for a free pickup anywhere in the Albuquerque metro, scheduled by route. Bringing a big load? Come 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when someone is at the warehouse to help unload.

Can I donate sheet music with markings, tears or water stains?

Yes. Pencil fingerings, a teacher's notes, torn covers, loose pages and water stains are all fine, bound or loose, with or without the original folders. I sort every piece by hand, so there is nothing to clean up or check first.

Do you take hymnals and church choir libraries?

Yes: pew hymnals, choral octavos, cantatas and a whole choir library, folders and all. A large church collection can come on a free metro pickup; see donating church music, hymnals and choral libraries for how that works.

Can I mail sheet music from outside Albuquerque?

Yes. Printed music, bound or loose, qualifies for USPS Media Mail, so you can mail it to me from anywhere in the US; postage is donor-paid. In the Albuquerque metro, the drop box or a free pickup is simpler.
