Donate Vinyl Records in Albuquerque

Published March 21, 2026 By Josh Eldred

You can donate vinyl records in Albuquerque to me for free: LPs, 45s and 78s, any genre and any condition, in jackets or loose. A crate or two fits the covered 24/7 drop box outside the gate at 5445 Edith Blvd NE (North Valley, near Edith and Montaño). For a whole collection, text 505-250-3804 for a free pickup anywhere in the Albuquerque metro, scheduled by route, or come 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when someone is at the warehouse to help unload. Classic LPs, recent pressings or an estate’s worth of records, I take them all; since 2021 I’ve processed over 500,000 pounds of donations, records included.

Why Donate Your Vinyl Records?

Vinyl has made a comeback over the last 15 years, drawing both longtime collectors and new listeners who appreciate the warmth, ritual, and tangible quality of records. However, vinyl collections can take up significant space, and many people upgrade, relocate, or simply want to free up room. Rather than letting records gather dust, donating them ensures they reach listeners who will actually play and enjoy them.

Your records might be perfect for a young person discovering vinyl for the first time, a DJ looking for rare pressings, or a longtime collector searching for that missing album. Donating keeps the music playing.

When you donate through the New Mexico Literacy Project, you're contributing to media circulation and helping connect music with people who want to listen.

What I Accept

  • Vinyl records in any condition (scratched, warped, cracked)
  • 12-inch LPs, 7-inch 45s and shellac 78s
  • Records with damaged or missing jackets
  • Picture discs and colored vinyl
  • Box sets and multi-record collections
  • Rare and vintage records
  • Modern vinyl pressings and reissues
  • Mixed collections alongside books and DVDs

Records are accepted as part of my mixed media donation program alongside books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.

About My Vinyl Donation Program

The New Mexico Literacy Project takes more than books, because media extends beyond paper. My hand-sorting process handles vinyl records with care, treating them the same way I treat all donations. Every record gets checked by hand, and the usable ones are resold, which is what keeps the pickup and the drop box free.

Whether your records are in mint condition or show signs of play, I accept them, and you never need to clean, re-sleeve or sort them first.

Vinyl Record Donation FAQs

Do you accept vinyl records and LPs? ▼

Yes, I accept vinyl records and LPs alongside books, DVDs, and CDs as part of my mixed media donation program. You can drop them off at my 24/7 drop box or schedule free pickup. Records in any condition are welcome.

What condition should vinyl records be in for donation? ▼

I accept vinyl records in any condition — scratched, warped, cracked, missing jackets, or in mint condition. There are no restrictions on record condition. Even records that have heavy play marks are welcome.

How do I drop off vinyl records in Albuquerque? ▼

A crate or two can go in the covered 24/7 drop box outside the gate at 5445 Edith Blvd NE, any time, day or night. For more than the box holds, come 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when someone is at the warehouse to help unload, or text 505-250-3804 for a free pickup in the Albuquerque metro, scheduled by route. All three ways are free, from a single album to an entire collection.

Do you take 78s and 45s? ▼

Yes. Shellac 78s, 7-inch 45s, LPs and box sets are all welcome, sleeved or loose, cracked or warped. Shellac is more brittle than vinyl, so stand 78s upright in a sturdy box with paper between them for the trip. More on old 78 RPM records.

Can old vinyl records be recycled? ▼

Albuquerque's blue-cart list doesn't mention records; it names plastic bottles and tubs and rigid plastics like toys and hampers. Rather than guess at the cart, donate them: a record that still plays is worth more to the next listener, and I take records in any condition and resell the usable ones.

Do you buy vinyl records? ▼

No. NMLP never buys records or pays for donations; it is a free drop-off and pickup service. Reselling the donated records that still play is what pays for the truck and keeps both of those free.
