Don Bullis's New Mexico Historical Biographies is an encyclopedic gathering of more than fifteen hundred notable New Mexicans, spanning the time before the first Europeans arrived around 1540 to the present day. A cross-section of the people who shaped the Land of Enchantment, it runs from governors and state historians to lawmen, outlaws, artists, athletes, and musicians, with the kind of eclectic, story-rich entries that reward browsing as much as reference use.

Published in 2011 by Rio Grande Books of Los Ranchos as an official New Mexico Centennial Project supported by the state's Department of Cultural Affairs, the volume went on to win a 2012 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award, noted on its bright Zia-sun cover. Bullis, a respected authority on New Mexico lawmen, is particularly praised for getting the Spanish names right. This documented copy preserves a comprehensive modern reference compiled to mark the state's hundredth year.
